Day 1: Curiosity and Conversations
“Let’s just take a quick look at this booth…”
That’s how most people walked into Booth 54 at Durbar Hall. And then, they paused. Because right at the centre was something simple, but powerful.
The Skilling Wall: A space where professionals answered one question: “What is the one skill you want to grow in 2026?”
And suddenly, it wasn’t just a booth anymore.
It became a reflection of the future workforce, one sticky note at a time.
- Some wrote AI fluency.
- Some wrote strategic thinking.
Some wrote leadership presence.
But what stood out wasn’t the answers.
It was the intent behind them.
Alongside this, conversations kept flowing. Our SMEs and Sales Team engaged visitors and addressed their questions throughout.
- “How do we measure real capability, not just course completion?”
- “Can skilling finally tie back to business outcomes?”
- “What does a 360-degree skilling platform actually look like?”
There was curiosity.
There was skepticism.
But most importantly, there was engagement.
Our leaders also took time to attend some of the very powerful sessions that were lined up for the day.
Day 2: From Training to Transformation: Where the Real Conversations Happened
If Day 1 was about sparking curiosity, Day 2 went deeper.
Tekstac, in collaboration with SHRM India, hosted an exclusive roundtable:
“From Training to Transformation — The New Playbook for Capability-Building in the GenAI Era”
This wasn’t a panel. It was a closed-door, honest conversation with some of the sharpest HR and L&D leaders in the room.
And very quickly, the tone shifted from ideas to realities:
- Training is no longer enough
- Capability-building must be measurable and role-aligned
- GenAI is powerful, but only when paired with clear strategy and structure
At one point, a participant summed it up perfectly:
“We’ve invested in learning for years.
Now we’re being asked, what did it really change?”
That question stayed. And so did the discussions that followed.
As shared by Vijay Phadtare, General Manager (West), SHRM India),
“A vibrant roundtable filled with powerful insights, bold ideas, and shared experiences from HR and L&D leaders at the top of their game.”
One of the round table participants, Sheena Vengiyil (Learning & OD Architect, Maximus) added:
“A great discussion and sharing the stage with thought leaders was a valuable opportunity.”
These weren’t just testimonials.
They were signals that the conversation had depth and relevance.
What This Meant for Tekstac
SHRMIAC 2025 wasn’t about showcasing a platform.
It was about validating a shift we’ve been building towards.
Across the booth, the Skilling Wall, and the roundtable, one thing became clear:
Organisations are no longer looking for more learning.
They are looking for measurable capability, aligned to business outcomes.
And every conversation eventually came back to that.
“How do we make skilling actually work?”
That’s where Tekstac stood. Not just with answers, but with a way forward.

From Training to Transformation
A strong consensus emerged early: traditional training models are no longer enough. As businesses face constant disruption and shrinking skill lifecycles, L&D must evolve into a strategic function aligned to business outcomes.
This shift requires L&D teams to move beyond programs and build ecosystems that continuously enable performance and growth.
Navigating Workforce Complexity with GenAI
Leaders reflected on the realities organisations are dealing with today: skill redundancy, legacy system integration, and increasingly diverse workforce expectations.
Balancing experienced talent with new-age digital skills is no longer straightforward. In this context, GenAI is emerging as a key enabler, helping organisations design adaptive, continuous learning ecosystems that evolve with both business and people.
The idea of persona-based learning and AI adoption stood out as a practical and scalable way forward.
Personalisation at the Core
The discussion reinforced the need to move away from standardised, top-down learning models toward personalised, learner-centric experiences.
As one insight captured it, “Learning must meet people where they are—not where the program expects them to be.”
GenAI is accelerating this transition, enabling contextual, just-in-time learning without increasing complexity for L&D teams.
Redefining Learning Impact
Another critical shift discussed was around measurement. Traditional metrics like completion rates and training hours are no longer sufficient.
Leaders emphasised focusing on:
- Capability shifts in real work
- Confidence in decision-making
- Tangible business outcomes
In simple terms, learning must translate into performance.
AI Literacy and Continuous Learning Culture
With skills becoming obsolete faster than ever, building AI literacy across the workforce has become essential. But beyond tools, organisations must foster a culture of continuous learning.
As highlighted during the roundtable, “Learning agility isn’t just a skill; it’s a mindset.”
The ability to adapt, unlearn, and relearn will define workforce relevance in the GenAI era.
Voices from the Roundtable
Leaders at the roundtable echoed these shifts through their own experiences:
Harish Chandra Rodda, General Manager, Apollo Pharmacies, summarised the discussion clearly:
“GenAI is enhancing the ‘human’ in HR. The focus now is on moving from training to transformation—through personalised learning, outcome-driven metrics, and building AI literacy across the workforce.”
Vivekananda Kadukuntla, Learning & Development@Pega, reinforced the mindset shift required:
“The shift from training to transformation is essential. Our relevance depends on our ability to adapt, unlearn, and relearn—because learning agility is now a mindset.”
Keeping the Human at the Centre
Despite the strong focus on technology, one idea remained central: the future of learning must remain human-centric.
The most effective organisations will be those that balance AI-driven efficiency with empathy, creativity, and critical thinking. As one takeaway resonated across the room, “Soft skills are going to be the hard skills.”
A Collective Step Forward
The Hyderabad roundtable brought together diverse perspectives but aligned on a clear direction: capability-building must evolve into a continuous, AI-enabled, and business-aligned function.

Conversations That Shaped the Evening
What happens when 21 L&D leaders from tech, engineering, and GCC organizations come together is not a structured exchange of ideas, but a candid exploration of what’s really changing, and what isn’t.
One of the early conversations set the tone for the evening, shifting the focus from ROI to a more nuanced lens of ROE (Return on Expectations). The discussion explored how success in L&D is often measured not just through defined metrics, but through evolving stakeholder expectations that are harder to quantify, yet critical to address.
As the dialogue progressed, there was a noticeable return to foundational principles of learning. Perspectives shared during the session highlighted that while tools and technologies continue to evolve, the essence of effective learning remains rooted in balance.
The conversation also reflected on the rapidly shrinking shelf life of skills. With capabilities evolving at an accelerated pace, learning is no longer a linear journey but a continuous cycle of learning, unlearning, and relearning; requiring individuals and organizations to stay adaptive and intentional.
As highlighted by Krishnan Unni, Chief Business Officer at Tekstac, the discussion brought together diverse perspectives from GCC and ITES organizations, each approaching capability building with different priorities, yet converging on a common need for faster, more effective talent development.

Perspectives from the Ground
Beyond the booth, our team also took part in several sessions and roundtable discussions, engaging with leaders across industries and listening in on how organisations are approaching innovation and capability building today.
In one such discussion on building a culture of innovation, the conversation moved beyond intent to execution. Leaders spoke about the need to embed innovation into everyday work. There was a strong emphasis on treating intellectual property as a strategic asset, ensuring that ideas are not only generated but also captured, nurtured, and scaled effectively.
Another interesting shift in perspective was around the role of AI. Rather than being viewed as an end in itself, the focus was on how it can be applied in more practical ways; through internal solutions, hackathons, and opportunities that allow teams, especially young talent, to build and implement ideas in real-world scenarios.
Being part of both the booth interactions and these discussions offered a more complete view of the event.

From Cost Efficiency to Capability Thinking
A clear shift defined the conversations throughout the day. GCCs are no longer measured by cost efficiency alone; they are now expected to deliver innovation, agility, and business impact.
Leaders discussed how organisations must move away from reactive hiring models and instead focus on building internal capability.
Skills Over Roles: A Defining Shift
One of the most talked about ideas at the summit was the move toward skills-first thinking.
As highlighted during the sessions, skills are becoming the currency of talent strategy. Static job definitions are giving way to more fluid, capability-driven workforce structures that can adapt to rapid technological and business changes.
This shift is especially relevant as AI and automation continue to reshape how work gets done across GCCs.
Insights from the Stage
Our team took part in some key sessions, and these are the takeaways they brought home:
- Sri Jayesh Ranjan spoke about Hyderabad’s growing role as a hub for innovation-led GCCs.
- Jaspreet Bindra shared perspectives on leveraging AI and navigating disruption.
- Nousheen Khan highlighted how leadership mindsets and cultural agility are evolving alongside business transformation.
- Anuradha Kumar and Brinda Batavia emphasised aligning talent strategy with global business needs.
On the Ground: The Exhibitor Experience
As exhibitors, we were part of the ongoing conversations throughout the day.
The booth saw a steady flow of leaders; some exploring how to strengthen workforce capabilities, others looking at integrating AI into their learning and talent strategies.
Many interactions began with broad questions but quickly became more focused around scalability, real-world application, and solving immediate capability gaps.
It was a reminder that while the themes may be strategic, the challenges leaders face are very real and immediate.
The conversations throughout the day reflected both the urgency and the opportunity ahead.
And throughout the panels, discussions, or booth conversations, one thing resonated: the future of GCCs will be defined by how effectively they build, adapt, and scale talent.

Key Takeaways from the event
1. The Big Moment: Report Launch
A key highlight of the event was the launch of our first collaborative report with SHRM India:
“Tectonic Shifts to Transformational Growth: Evolving Role of L&D in the GenAI Era.”
Built on insights from conversations with 50+ organiszations, the report captures how Indian enterprises are rethinking learning strategies to stay future-ready in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
The report was unveiled by Vivek Ranjan (CHRO, Zensar), Krishnan Unni (Chief Business Officer, Tekstac), and Jasdev Ahuja (Senior Director & Lead Membership & PMQ at SHRM East), setting the tone for deeper discussions around the evolving role of L&D.
One idea stood out strongly through the launch and beyond:
The shift from talking about AI to proving business value.
2. What Leaders Spoke
Across panels, conversations, and our own interactions, a few themes consistently came up:
- Organisations are moving towards skills-first frameworks, but struggle to keep them updated as new roles emerge rapidly
- There is increasing pressure on L&D to demonstrate tangible business outcomes
- Employees themselves are questioning how to stay relevant in a world where skills evolve faster than ever
One of the most thought-provoking reflections from the event captured this well:
What happens when the skills you learn today risk becoming obsolete within months?
3. Perspectives from the Floor
In a compelling exchange between Andy Biladeau and Pranjal Sharma, the focus was on how organisations need to rethink transformation itself.
As highlighted by Krishna Kumar, Head of Marketing at Tekstac: “Transformation cannot be siloed.”
Another strong takeaway:
- In the GenAI era, cross-functional knowledge is becoming essential, not optional
What stood out equally was SHRM’s own approach—being self-critical and actively evolving, rather than just advocating change.
4. Conversations That Went Deeper: The Roundtable
Beyond the mainstage, we hosted an exclusive roundtable with 15+ senior L&D and HR leaders on:
“Tectonic Shifts to Transformational Growth: Evolving Role of L&D in the GenAI Era.”

The Sessions That Stayed: Building High-Performance Teams
1. Opening keynote was by Hemant Malik, Whole time Director ITC Limited. He spoke about three critical enablers:
- Space to innovate – Let teams think beyond defined roles
- Resources to experiment – Give them the tools to test and learn
- Confidence to take risks – Build a culture where failure isn’t penalized
2. The impact of AI and technology on leadership and the workforce was discussed, noting the need for leaders to be digitally fluent and embrace AI to stay relevant.
3. A significant challenge identified is that 71% of manufacturing HR leaders struggle to find people with the right skills, and 81% are looking to AI for productivity, but only 9% are implementing it.
4. Continuous learning unlearning, and adapting are vital for leaders to remain relevant amidst rapid technological and economic changes.
Tekstac at SHRM 2025
Against this backdrop, Tekstac’s presence was designed to turn these ideas into tangible action, through three key touchpoints:
1. Research Report Launch
The SHRM x Tekstac Study 2025 grounded the day’s discussions in reality.
Titled “Tectonic Shifts to Transformational Growth: Evolving Role of L&D in the GenAI Era,” the report explored how organisations in India are rethinking their L&D strategies in a rapidly evolving landscape.
It uncovered:
- Key L&D disruptors reshaping learning and development
- Top skilling priorities for future-ready workforces
- Workforce readiness to bridge the growing skill gaps
More than a report, it became a conversation starter across rooms.
2. Roundtable: Where L&D Got Real About GenAI
The roundtable on “Evolving Role of L&D in the GenAI Era” brought together leaders for an open, unfiltered exchange.
The discussion moved quickly from possibilities to challenges:
- How do you move from learning delivery to capability orchestration?
- Can GenAI scale learning without losing context and relevance?
- And most importantly, how do you measure impact, not just completion?
Adding to these conversations, in an exclusive interaction, Muthuselvan Ayyasamy, Chief Product Officer at Tekstac, spoke about the growing impact of AI-driven technologies like ARA (Adaptive Learning & AI-based Recognition Analytics).
He emphasised how these innovations are enhancing developer efficiency and introducing AI-powered capabilities across functions, from product development to marketing and even creative workflows.
3. The Booth: Where Curiosity Turned Into Clarity
If sessions sparked thought, the Tekstac booth sparked dialogue.
We interacted with visionary L&D leaders, each bringing a unique challenge, but a shared curiosity:
“How is this different from what we already have?”
One conversation captured the essence of the day.
An L&D leader stopped by and asked:
“Your platform sounds promising—but how customisable is it?
Because our skill framework is very specific to our business.”
That question opened the door to a deeper exchange.
We walked through how Tekstac:
- Adapts to custom skill architectures
- Builds role-specific learning pathways
- And enables precise capability tracking, not generic progress metrics
By the end, it wasn’t a product discussion anymore.
It was a conversation about solving real L&D challenges at scale.
Overall, the event was a huge success for Tekstac.
